French President Emmanuel Macron’s plans to deploy troops to Ukraine were met with criticism during a protest rally at the Place du Palais-Royal near the Louvre, March 8, as reported by TASS.

According to reports, hundreds of demonstrators gathered at the Place du Palais-Royal and marched across the bridge to the other side of the Seine, chanting slogans against sending soldiers and weapons to Ukraine, as well as against Ukraine’s NATO membership. The demonstration was organized by the Patriots Party.

“Macron is seeking military presence in Ukraine to ensure that even if peace comes, the conflict could be reignited at any moment within two or three years through provocations and false-flag operations. That is why troops are needed there,” stated Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots Party.

He also warned that if French nuclear weapons were stationed in EU countries, France would lose control over its nuclear arsenal.

On March 5, President Emmanuel Macron announced in a speech that he intended to discuss with allies the possibility of deploying French nuclear deterrent forces in EU countries. He also reaffirmed France’s continued support for Ukraine.
