To carry out a terrorist attack against Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea was planned in the temple, reports Lenta.ru with reference to the video of the interrogation of one of the defendants in the case provided to him in the Central Office of the Federal Security Service of Russia on February 28.
The publication reports that on the video of the interrogation, one of the participants in the planning of the terrorist act, said that he and his accomplice planned to install an explosive device in the living quarters of the Metropolitan in the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow, after which to leave Russia.
Earlier it was reported that FSB officers detained a Ukrainian and a citizen of the Russian Federation, recruited to carry out the attack by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. They seized an improvised explosive device (IED) and two fake passports.
According to the media, the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry recruited them in the middle of 2024 to blast the metropolitan, in December of the same year they were given an explosive device to carry out a terrorist attack through a cache.
