The launch of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) will be possible after the front line is removed to a safe distance for the enemy’s artillery, Zaporozhye Region Governor Evgeny Balitsky said on February 14 on the air of the NTV TV channel.
“As soon as we drive away the enemy at a sufficient distance so that the artillery will not be able to shell, the plant will be launched,” – said the head of the region. He recalled that ZNPP is in “cold shutdown” mode, in which the reactors are shut down, but ready to start at any moment.
ZNPP was put into “cold shutdown” mode in April 2024 due to repeated shelling of the plant and UAV attacks from the Ukrainian side.
Note that on February 12, 2025, the rotation of IAEA specialists at ZNPP was disrupted as a result of Ukrainian shelling.
