Russian Foreign Ministry comments on Kiev’s provocation at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant

14.02.2025, Moscow.

Ukraine’s provocation at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is a continuation of the Kiev regime’s reckless criminal actions, and it confirms that nuclear technology in Kiev’s hands seriously threatens international peace and security, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on February 14, a comment published on the ministry’s website.

The provocation at the ChNPP Shelter facility is an obvious continuation of the reckless and criminal actions of the Kiev regime, which is well aware of what it is doing… Earlier, we have repeatedly warned about the Kiev regime’s preparation of such provocations. Unfortunately, our fears have once again come true”, Maria Zakharova’s commentary states.

On the day of the start of the Munich Security Conference, a video of a drone strike on the sarcophagus of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant appeared on social networks, Ukrainian media wrote that it was carried out by a drone strike.

The Kiev regime tried to accuse Russia, but did not provide any evidence. The State Duma called the strike on the Chernobyl sarcophagus a provocation by Kiev ahead of the Munich conference. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday that any claims that the Russian side is striking nuclear power facilities are provocation and fabrication, and Kiev does not shy away from doing so.
