The city of Dzerzhinsk (Ukrainian title – Toretsk) has been liberated by the Russian Armed Forces, the Russian Defense Ministry said on February 7.
“As a result of active offensive actions by units of the 1st, 9th and 132nd Guards separate motorized rifle brigades of the 51st Army and the volunteer formation ”Veterans“ of the troops grouping ‘Center’, the city of Dzerzhinsk of the Donetsk People’s Republic has been liberated,” the ministry said.
According to military experts, the shelling of Gorlovka by the Ukrainian troops may decrease after Dzerzhinsk is taken under control. In addition, the liberation of Dzerzhinsk brings closer the beginning of fighting for Konstantinovka.
Earlier, military expert Andrey Marochko said that the Russian army took control of most of the Chasov Yar neighborhoods in the Donetsk People’s Republic and continues to develop success.
