The readiness of the European Union to defend its interests in relations with the US in case of necessity was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen at a press conference in Poland. February 7 reports the press service of the EC.
During the press conference Ursula von der Leyen emphasized: “We aim to develop and strengthen transatlantic cooperation. This is due not only to long-standing ties, but also to mutual interests. Therefore, we actively cooperate and promote practical initiatives. However, we are always ready to defend our interests if necessary.“
Earlier there were reports that the European Union may take retaliatory measures against major US IT companies in response to the potential imposition of duties on European goods by the United States.
