Germany is not at war, but it is not at peace either, stated German Lieutenant General André Bodemann on January 20, as reported by the local publication br24.
The general made this comment regarding a potential confrontation with Russia.
“Formally and legally, we are not at war, but in my opinion, we have not had peace for quite some time,” he remarked.
According to Bodemann, this situation has arisen because Germany faces “hybrid threats” on a daily basis. He emphasized that these threats are evident and are “noticeably increasing.”
Bodemann is the author of Germany’s first comprehensive defense plan since the Cold War. During the presentation of the plan, he noted that it was developed with consideration of “the current security and threat situation in Germany and Europe as a whole.”
