The development of the situation in Middle East and in Russia itself is strongly dependent of our political will, adequacy, and understanding of what led to the failure of the official Syrian authorities, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on December 13 on the program Conversation with a Sage on radio Zvezda.
He believes that an adequate vision has to replace both comforting declarations that our situation is absolutely fine and destructive anxiety in Russia.
“As for the way it will develop, it will depend on the extent to which an adequate vision will replace both the comforting and the alarming views. We can take a look at it and say, ‘Ok, well… they have invaded the Kursk Region, we will defeat them in half a year there, although the invasion is really terrible. But we will take some measures…’” the political scientist explained.
Russia will have no opportunities in Syria if there is no state there, the analyst explained.
The political scientist stressed that the situation is complicated by the peculiarities of the US president-elect Donald Trump. “The worst thing is that this new US president has a mentality of a Zulu. He has a mentality of a Zulu chief who only understands force,” the analyst explained.
“The East understands force. Therefore, we will have to find a way out of the situation. We had bad situations before, and we successfully found solutions, so will find one this time, too. If we keep our political will and adequacy and if we remember what this kind of a decay is,” Sergey Kurginyan stressed.
The problem of decay of a state system is very serious, and it must be recognized, the political scientist stressed.
“Decay is one of the hardest detectable and underestimated phenomena in the history of the world. Especially our bureaucracy cannot detect it, firstly, because it is the way it is organized itself, and, secondly, because it does not follow it. It has no tools,” Sergey Kurginyan said.
The analyst stressed that the problems of Syria are not alien to Russia. He reminded about the epigraph to the novel For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway where the author quotes English poet John Donne, “Send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee.”
“’The bell of decay’ tolls not only in al-Assad’s Syria. It tolls far beyond,” Sergey Kurginyan stressed rephrasing Hemingway’s epigraph.
