Kurginyan calls any agreements with the West a Trojan horse

Donald Trump’s coming to power in the USA will not reconcile Russia and the West, because any agreements will be “a Trojan horse or a poisoned apple,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 7 in the Right to Know program on channel TVC.

The statements by the new US administration about ending the conflict in Ukraine do not mean a decision to reconcile with Russia. “Why would Trump give anything at all to the Russians if he gets nothing in return?” the political scientist stressed.

“If we can get anything good for us we can use any conjuncture. Who would not use it? But what can we get? <…> We are in a situation when a military machine is being deployed in a tragic and moderately effective way,” Sergey Kurginyan noted.

The political scientist warned that slowing down the military machine “will bring other problems, both political and technical.” “They will begin to slow it down solely for killing the Russians through slowing it down. There will be no other questions. Because no one will really give anything. And anything given will be a Trojan horse, a poisoned apple, or something alike,” the analyst explained.

Sergey Kurginyan expressed hope that the Russian authorities keep in mind the experience, extremely negative for our country, of the summit in Reykjavík (between the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev and US President Ronald Reagan in October 1986 that resulted in the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty) and the Maltese summit (between US President George Bush and CPSU Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev in December 1989, less than one month after the collapse of the Berlin Wall), and they will not fall into the same trap again.

The experience of these negotiations can be taken into account, because the current Russian leader is an absolutely different person, the political scientist explained. “And also time has passed, and people are tired of the Americans, even those who say, ‘Well, why not, we are Europe, too, after all,’” Sergey Kurginyan stressed.
