Chinese authorities expressed grave concern over the new Syrian regime’s actions to recruit terrorists from around the world, the Global Times wrote on January 9.
According to Fu Cong, China’s permanent representative to the UN, China is extremely concerned about reports that the new Syrian regime recently awarded high military ranks to several foreign terrorist fighters, including the head of a terrorist organization, the Turkestan Islamic Party (organization banned in Russia).
Fu pointed out that the situation in Syria is at a critical stage with alarming prospects, and the international community should enhance solidarity and coordinated action to support and help Syria achieve stability and development and prevent terrorist forces from using Syrian territory to threaten the security of other countries.
