More than 80 thousand migrants were deported from the country by the Russian authorities in 2024 for violations of migration rules, TASS writes on January 8 citing sources in the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia.
“Already by December 2024, more than 80 thousand foreign citizens and stateless persons were forcibly deported from Russia by court decisions,” the agency’s source said.
Only from Moscow and the Moscow region in 2024, 23 thousand migrants were expelled. The court found them guilty of committing an administrative violation under Article 18.8 of The Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses (violation by a foreign citizen or stateless person of the rules of entry into the Russian Federation or the regime of residence in the Russian Federation). For the next five years they will not be able to return to the territory of Russia.
At the same time, for at least the previous two years, the number of expelled migrants grew 2 times every year. Thus, in 2023, more than 44.2 thousand foreign citizens and stateless persons were deported outside Russia to 60 countries. A year earlier, in 2022, there were 26.6 thousand such violators, they were sent to 47 states.
According to the Chief Bailiff of Russia Dmitry Aristov, from 2017 to 2022, about 200 thousand migrants were expelled from Russia for violations of migration and labor laws.
