Russian Armed Forces successfully repelled two counterattacks by the Ukrainian armed units in Kursk Region, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated on January 5.
Using artillery and aviation, the Russian Group of Forces Sever repelled the two Ukrainian counterattacks and inflicted damage on Ukrainian assault groups in the Kursk direction.
The Russian Defense Ministry commented on the efforts to repel the Ukrainian incursion into Russian territory near the border, “Two counterattacks by Ukrainian assault groups were repelled.”
The report further stated that during offensive actions, the “Group of Forces Sever inflicted heavy losses on the Ukrainian armed units, including four mechanized brigades, four airborne assault brigades, a marine brigade, and five territorial defense units in the areas of Daryino, Kurilovka, Nizhniy Klin, Nikolaevo-Daryino, Aleksandriya, Leonidovo, Nikolskoye, Kozachya Loknya, Malaya Loknya, Makhnovka, Melovaya, Stara Sorochina, Nova Sorochina, Russkoye Porechye, and Sudzhy.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Ukrainian losses on the Kursk front over the past 24 hours amounted to up to 340 militants. Additionally, the report details the destruction of four tanks, three infantry fighting vehicles, four armored personnel carriers, twelve armored combat vehicles, vehicles for demining, 20 trucks, and five mortars.
