Congress of Crimean Tatars calls on UN to recognize Crimea as a Russian region

17.12.2024, Simferopol.

Crimea should be recognized worldwide as an integral part of Russia, according to an appeal made by Crimean Tatars to the United Nations during their congress held in the republic’s capital on December 17, a RIA Novosti‘s correspondent wrote.

The appeal was addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and members of the UN Security Council.

“Our future is only with Russia, and we strongly urge you to acknowledge this fact and cease aggression against Russia and the discrediting of our national symbols,” the appeal emphasized.

The congress deputies believe that sooner or later, the entire world will recognize Crimea as an integral part of Russia, stating it is just a matter of time.

“Crimea is Russia, this is an axiom. We believe that somewhere in the offices of high international officials there are still rational minds who remember from school that an axiom is a statement accepted without proof,” the appeal stated.

Additionally, the Crimean Tatars expressed that their region consistently feels the support of the federal authorities of Russia.

The Congress of Crimean Tatars started in Simferopol on December 17. The event is attended by around 400 people, including deputies, spiritual, public, and cultural figures, as well as representatives of Crimean Tatar diasporas from various countries.
