The probability of reaching a compromise on the Ukrainian conflict is zero, as Moscow’s and Kiev’s positions on the settlement are apparently incompatible, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said in an interview with CNN on December 4.
Ryabkov emphasized that Russia’s negotiating positions are based on the points already voiced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The president outlined our position on June 14. We know what Zelensky says in his plans and proposals. If you compare these two positions, you will see that they are apparently incompatible. Therefore, the chances of a compromise are now equal to zero,” – emphasized Ryabkov.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin named the conditions for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Among them are the withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from Donbass and Novorossiya, Kiev’s refusal to join NATO, the lifting of all Western sanctions against Moscow and the establishment of Ukraine’s non-aligned and nuclear-free status.
