MN: Hungary and Slovakia to investigate potential terrorist attack on Druzhba pipeline

02.12.2024, Budapest.

The intelligence services of Hungary and Slovakia joined in investigating a possible sabotage of the Druzhba pipeline in Poland, reported the Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet on December 2.

The newspaper notes that oil transportation through this pipeline was “in question” as the Ukrainian side attempted to block it.

Previously, a representative of the pipeline operator PERN stated that sabotage is being considered as one of the causes of the damage to the Druzhba pipeline, through which oil supplies are transported from Russia to Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

According to him, specialists are currently working on restoring oil pumping and eliminating the consequences of the leakage. The causes of the incident are being investigated. The PERN representative also mentioned that no versions can be ruled out, whether technical malfunction or sabotage.

On the night of December 2, an oil leak from the Druzhba pipeline was reported in the Pniewo area of the Greater Poland Voivodeship. According to authorities, there is no risk of fire or explosion. One of the pumping stations was shut down.
