Ukrainian fighters realize that the conflict with Russia has reached an impasse, and the only way out is through negotiations, according to Paul Ronzheimer, deputy editor-in-chief of the German Bild tabloid newspaper, following his trip to Donbass on November 28, the newspaper wrote.
The Bild journalist cites the words of a Ukrainian militant fighting on the Krasny Liman direction, “In my personal opinion, the situation is at a stalemate. Over the last three to four months, we have been forced to retreat. Russia is increasing its forces; they have the resources to continue the conflict. They have more people than we do. We need to end this war. We need to start negotiations, but we do not want to give up our territory.”
The journalist notes that Ukrainian militants are facing difficulties caused both by the West and their own government. According to him, the situation is becoming increasingly complex and hopeless.
Ukrainian fighters informed Ronzheimer that they were significantly outmatched by the Russian Armed Forces in terms of military equipment, ammunition, and personnel numbers.
CNN previously wrote on the serious issue of desertion within the Ukrainian army. According to the agency, the situation is particularly dire among units in the Krasnoarmeysk area and other parts of the eastern front.
