Russian citizens are actively signing contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry to serve in the zone of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, stated Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, in an interview with 16-year-old journalist Faina Savenkova from RIA Novosti on November 23.
“There are many of these people – hundreds sign contracts and join the special military operation every day,” Peskov explained, emphasizing that because of this, there is no need to declare a general mobilization in Russia.
According to the Kremlin Press Secretary, those who sign contracts undergo mandatory military training courses before being sent to the special military operation zone.
Partial mobilization was declared in Russia on September 21, 2022. Additionally, there were previous proposals in the Russian State Duma to discharge servicemen with three and more children from service prematurely.
