The conflict with Ukraine can escalate into a war against a united Europe, and Russia must get prepared for it, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and analyst Sergey Kurginyan said on April 5 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.
Kurginyan reminded that if the USA leaves NATO, the Article 5 on collective defense of the organization’s charter will not be effective anymore, and then Russia and the EU can be pitted against each other.
“As soon as Article 5 of NATO is gone, the USA is no longer obliged to defend Europe. So, Europe would have to do it itself. Europe would become involved the same way as the USA became involved in Vietnam,” the political scientist explained.
However, Russia is not really ready for the transformation of the conflict from its current format to a war against a united Europe if the latter chooses further escalation. Kurginyan noted that the previous concept of war against the West implied that nuclear weapons would have to be used half an hour after the conflict starts.
The USA also has to decide what to do with Germany and Japan, because it cannot avoid letting them have nuclear weapons and UN Security Council membership to deter Russia and China.
“The USA fears this to death, and this is a tough choice. It has to deal with China in any event. How can it do so without a militarized Japan? Can it be militarized? What shall it do with Germany?” Kurginyan explained.
Meanwhile, in Russia, “the entire Andropov-Kuusinen system of integration into Europe is failing,” the leader of Essence of Time noted. Hopes for building relations with global south emerge, but Russia can only be saved if it becomes so strong that no one dares to challenge it.
“Russia has only one chance: it must be strong enough in spiritual, ideological, political, and military aspects that no one will dare to challenge it,” the political scientist believes. “Then in this situation we will live a happy life, and we will survive through very severe periods of global restructuring even in the scenarios I am talking about. And then our children and grandchildren will live in a spiritually enlightened and prosperous country.”
