09.04.2024, Moscow.

A group of helicopter pilots called Mad Ducks, which conducted sorties to Mariupol in March 2022, was recently destroyed in Ukraine, Rossiyskaya Gazeta wrote on April 8.

According to the publication, among the helicopter pilots was their commander with the call sign Petrovich. The exact time, place and circumstances are not reported.

At the same time, the Telegram channel Whisper of the Front reports that the group of helicopter pilots was defeated in March 2024.

In a March 13 report, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian Armed Forces destroyed two Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopters in the Donetsk People’s Republic at a landing site near Novopavlovka.

The crew of the Ukrainian Mi-8 Mad Ducks helicopter “became famous” during the storming of Mariupol by Russian soldiers in March 2022. They transported senior commanders of the Ukrainian armed units and foreign advisers, as well as classified documents from Azovstal. Four Ukrainian helicopters were involved in that operation, two of which were shot down.

In 2023, members of the Mad Ducks crew, along with Petrovich, gave an interview to the German magazine Bild, where they were photographed wearing military jackets and face-hiding helmets with visors.
