Moldova withdrew from the CFE Treaty, opening the way for the free deployment of NATO forces in the country, according to a report from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, issue 577.

Moldovan Defense Ministry State Secretary Valerii Mizha said in early March that the Moldovan government had approved the suspension of the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE Treaty). Following this, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France would open a permanent defense mission in Moldova in the coming months.

“Moldova’s ‘withdrawal’ from the CFE Treaty opened the way for the free deployment of NATO forces in Moldova, which France immediately took advantage of,” The Essence of Time editorial reads.
