Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made reciprocal proposals to French President Emmanuel Macron at a briefing on March 17.
“I am coming out with a reciprocal proposal to Macron: to stop supplying arms, which are used to kill civilians, as well as to stop sponsoring terrorism,” Zakharova said.
In addition, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman advised Macron to come out with a similar proposal to Israel and Hamas.
“A lot depends on France’s word there for sure,” Zakharova noted.
The French president on March 16 proposed a ceasefire in Ukraine for the duration of the Summer Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris. Russian athletes are allowed to participate in the games only under neutral status and only those who did not support the special military operation, as well as those who do not have contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry. Similar measures apply to athletes from Belarus.
