An attack on Russia, if it occurs, would likely begin with a quick global strike, according to an article published by the Russian Defense Ministry on March 5 in the journal Voennaya Mysl.
The publication’s authors believe the enemy will launch two to seven massive missile and aviation strikes before launching air-ground and sea operations. It is expected that aviation will be the first to enter the battle, as it is the most maneuverable and adaptive type of troops.
In addition, according to military forecasts, before the start of large-scale actions, operational enemy units will conduct demonstration provocations, the enemy will also strengthen intelligence, drones, airplanes and strategic bombers will regularly fly near the Russian borders. Aircraft carrier groups and ships with cruise missiles may be deployed under the guise of exercises.
“The named factors expand the system of threats to the Russian Federation in military terms, which create new requirements to the level of ensuring the security of the Russian Federation, one of the key roles in which the Air and Space Forces play,” the article reads.
Considering this, the authors of the publication believe that the Russian Air Force is facing new challenges. This branch of the forces should be equipped with modernized aviation systems, including drones, new weapons, and advanced automated control systems. It is also necessary to strengthen reconnaissance and revise the views on the organization of combat use of aviation in peacetime and wartime, taking into account the enemy’s actions.
Rossa Primavera News Agency wrote earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid considerable attention to Russia’s strategic forces in his address to the Federal Assembly on February 29. He stated that the nuclear weapons of the Russian Armed Forces are in full readiness for use. Russia is already using hypersonic missiles Kinzhal and Zirkon, hypersonic intercontinental-range Avangard missiles and laser systems Peresvet have been put on combat duty, the president added.
