Russian military destroy two Abrams tanks using FPV drones

02.03.2024, Moscow.

Soldiers of the Tsentr Group of Forces destroyed two Abrams tanks on the Avdeevka direction with the help of FPV drones, RIA Novosti informs.

The first tank was hit on February 26, which was previously reported by Yan Gagin, an adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin.

The second tank was hit on the same day, but some time later.

This was reported by the commander of the UAV reconnaissance and strike group with the call sign “Kolovrat”.

The combat with Abrams tanks occurred near the village of Berdychi in the DPR.

Kolovrat’s unit destroyed several pieces of Ukrainian equipment, including the second Abrams. At the same time, the Russian soldiers cannot say whether the Ukrainian crew survived, as there was no objective monitoring from the reconnaissance drone at the time.

Video footage from the goggles of the FPV drone operator with the call sign Rassvet confirms the destruction of the second tank.

The M1 Abrams is the main battle tank of the United States. It is in service with the armies of the United States, Egypt, Australia, Morocco and some Middle Eastern countries.

The M1 Abrams is one of the heaviest tanks. It has solid armor only on the front, a powerful engine with excessive fuel consumption, manual loading of the gun instead of automatic, a vulnerable auxiliary engine and a high price.

Washington has promised to transfer 31 Abrams units to Kiev. Deliveries began last September.

Ukrainian officials recognized that Abrams tanks would not last long on the front lines.

The Kremlin repeatedly emphasized that these tanks would burn like other Western equipment.
