Kurginyan: Trump’s victory will lead to escalation in Ukraine and Middle East

27.02.2024, Moscow.

Donald Trump’s coming to power in the US will escalate the processes in Ukraine and Middle East, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on February 9 on the program Conversation with a Sage on channel Zvezda.

Donald Trump’s coming to power will make something easier as Trump does not need Ukraine as much. Trump will begin an absolutely different game in NATO, which, on the one hand, apparently weakens NATO, but, on the other hand, it unties Europe’s hands to escalate its operations in Ukraine. And these operations are already being prepared for escalation,” the political scientist said.

Kurginyan noted that an absolutely serious discussion is already taking place about expeditionary forces to be sent to Ukraine, and this means direct involvement of NATO in the war. According to him, NATO can become involved through the Romanians attacking Transdniestria (which Russia cannot allow to happen) as well as through the Baltic State and Poland.

All the others will try to wash their hands, and the US will keep away. We will face another kind of escalation in Ukraine and another kind of escalation in Middle East. Two escalation spots are enough for eight or ten of them to appear,” Kurginyan said.

Meanwhile, the political scientist noted, these processes will bear new opportunities for Russia: oil prices will rise, and US efforts will be scattered to many directions. However, he stressed that Russia’s military capabilities have to be improved in order to use all the new opportunities.

We must increase our military capabilities tenfold by any means in the softest possible manner, we must demonstrate this and rise as an unexpected peak of military power in the new chaotic world. And we must just stand for our interests rather than go off the rails,” Kurginyan said.

He added that, if this takes places, the Russian of the second half of the 21st century can be very convincing, very new, and very eminent. Otherwise, these waves will bury Russia, Kurginyan concluded.
