Russia tests Partizan heavy transport drone

The first flight tests of the heavy transport drone of ultra-short takeoff and landing Partizan took place on February 16 in Novosibirsk, according to the press service of the Chaplygin Siberian Research Institute of Aviation.

To ensure safety and to take flight data, the tests were carried out in manned mode. The obtained data is necessary for further training of the automatic control system. Tests in unmanned mode will take place soon.

The flight took place at an altitude of 200 meters at speeds from 50 to 200 kilometers per hour. Its duration was 20 minutes. The flight was controlled by Vladimir Barsuk, Director of the Research Institute, test pilot.

“Today, during the first test flight, we confirmed the claimed takeoff and landing characteristics and stable control at ultra-low speeds,” Barsuk emphasized.

He added that Partizan can be used during rescue operations, cargo and passenger transportation, firefighting. In addition, the drone can be used for air monitoring, aviation and chemical operations, as well as a means of sanitary aviation.
