Ukrainian armed units’ officer: Situation in Avdeevka is worse than it was in Artyomovsk

16.02.2024, Kiev.

The situation for Ukrainian troops in the area of Avdeevka, located in the vicinity of Donetsk, is critical. It is worse than it was in Artyomovsk, which Kiev has already surrendered, the press officer of the Ukrainian Assault Brigade Aleksandr Borodin said, according to a February 16 report on the Telegram channel of the UNIAN agency.

As the officer said in a published video on the channel, the current situation on the battlefield in Avdeevka is critical. He compared the situation in Avdeevka to “the most critical period in Bakhmut [Artyomovsk].” At the same time, he noted that in Avdeevka “it is more difficult now, as Russian troops are using a large amount of equipment – from tanks to drones”.

The Washington Post previously reported that the Ukrainian militants had already begun a partial withdrawal near Avdeevka and that the surrender of the city was only a matter of time. Also, White House spokesman John Kirby said that the situation in Avdeevka was at a critical stage, mainly because of a shortage of ammunition in the Ukrainian armed units, and that the city could fall under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.
