Vietnam’s export earnings hit a two-year high in January 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said, VNA wrote on February 15.

The country’s export revenues rose 42% to about $33.6 billion compared to January 2023. This is the highest rate since April 2022, when Vietnam’s export revenues totaled $33.26 billion, compared to the same period in 2023.

The total value of exports and imports in January totaled more than $64 billion, up 38% year-on-year. It indicated that the export growth was mainly due to an increase in exports of products from the agricultural, forestry, and fishery sectors, as well as manufacturing.

In particular, exports of smartphones and handsets of all kinds and components brought in nearly six billion dollars, up more than 56% month-on-month. Meanwhile, coffee and rice prices rose 35% and 33.5% to $2955 and $693 per ton, respectively.

China remained the largest exporter of goods to Vietnam. In January, China exported about $11 billion worth of goods to Vietnam, up 50% from 2023 levels.
