Polish general suggests when Poland gets nuclear weapons

Poland is likely to get nuclear weapons, but after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, Poland’s Brigadier General Jaroslaw Kraszewski said in an interview with RMF FM radio on February 12.

Commenting on the article “It’s time to give Poland nuclear weapons” published in the British weekly The Spectator, Kraszewski said, “I believe this scenario is quite realistic.” He emphasized that countries with nuclear weapons are not usually attacked, so he considers “possessing such an arsenal” to be “a task for the coming years.”

However, it is unlikely to expect Poland to join the nuclear-weapon states before “the end of the armed conflict in Ukraine.” According to Kraszewski, Russia is an “unpredictable neighbor,” and this issue should be approached with caution.

Earlier in an interview with Tucker Carlson, Russian President Vladimir Putin answered the question in which case he could send troops to Poland. “Only in one case: if Poland attacks Russia,” he said.
