Russia responds symmetrically to the build-up of Russophobia in Ukraine, seeing this as an existential threat, but it does not cultivate hatred and Ukrainophobia, said political scientist, philosopher, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on October 21 on the Right to Know program on the TVC channel.
The political scientist described the actual logic on the Russian side in the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
“Russia’s actions, its logic, could be described as a reactive response – a situational reaction to the actions of the other side. The more anti-Russian sentiments are growing in Ukraine, the more there is an existential reaction from Russia,” the expert points out.
According to Kurginyan, the danger that Ukraine poses to Russia is by no means “not a big deal”- this challenge is coming not from a state like “Haiti” or some African country.
“This is your neighbor, very militarized, very strongly motivated against you and absolutely supported by the West. So what, you should allow serious installations, including nuclear ones, in Kharkov?!” – he explained.
No one in Russia will allow such an existential threat to their country: neither liberal peace supporters, nor conservative war enthusiasts, the political scientist is convinced.
“Therefore, while Ukraine is pushing in this anti-Russian direction as a stubborn mule, the response will be symmetrical. But this is always the answer, they always expect that something will change… No one cultivates this organic hatred,” he emphasized.
There is no “organic Ukrainophobia” in Russia, but in Ukraine there is Russophobia, the philosopher believes. According to Kurginyan, a “suicidal, self-destructive” game has been unfolding in Ukraine for 10 years, which the Russian side looks at with bewilderment.
“There are no brake there, only a gas pedal. From my point of view, there is only more and more of this Ukrainian madness, which is based on one thing – and you know it! – Russia will collapse, fall apart, we will celebrate Maidan in Moscow, Muscovites will be destroyed, and we will be the greatest state in Eastern Europe,” concluded the leader of the Essence of Time movement.
