The USA suggests that Israel target Hamas without affecting its social base, which will only lead to further radicalization of this Palestinian movement, political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on October 30 in a new issue of his author’s program Destiny published on Rossa Primavera News Agency website.
“The regimes of many countries in the South or the Greater Middle East are sitting on ‘powder kegs’,” Sergey Kurginyan emphasized.
He explained that by this powder keg he meant “the socially heated grassroots, into which radical Islamism is being planted with the help of the Americans and many others.”
Sergey Kurginyan noted that this powder keg is being heated at the instigation of the United States. He recalled US President Joe Biden’s statement that Hamas does not represent the entire Palestinian people and that the Gaza Strip is not equal to Hamas.
Kurginyan emphasized that “this brilliant statement” by Biden is now being repeated “by some idiots calling themselves sociologists who count how many Gaza residents are for Hamas, how many are not for Hamas, and so on.”
The political scientist explained that there is such an irrevocable notion as social base. According to him, political organizations have a social base.
“A political organization is strong insofar as it can recruit from that base as much as it needs. And this depends on its organizational capabilities, its resources and many other things. But above all, it depends on the existence of a social base,” he emphasized.
The analyst noted that even before the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October 2023, 70% of the Palestine population was on the side of Hamas, and “when this all unfolds, there will be 95%” for Hamas. Thus, the Gaza population will become the social base of Hamas, he explained.
“So it [USA] says: you [Israel] should target Hamas, which you yourself created. But you don’t affect the social base. Okay, then Hamas 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 will emerge, and it will become more and more radicalized. The problem is what can be done with the social base,” the analyst explained.
Kurginyan added that a very large ghetto has indeed been created in the Gaza Strip with the active assistance of Hamas. Because the radicals do not need the social grassroots to live well, otherwise it will be more difficult to recruit people from there.
“So, while that social base is there, can you imagine how to separate a political organization and its social base. The father of a boy who is a Hamas member and his son who is growing up and who has been learning to handle a gun since he was 10 or 12 years old. Can you imagine this,” the political scientist emphasized.
He noted that the state of the people in the Gaza Strip can be described as follows:
“Passionarity is high, fertility is high, social frustration is low, ideological propaganda in the spirit of radical Islamism is excellent, and it is supervised by the Americans.”
Kurginyan concluded that governments in Saudi Arabia, in Turkey, and elsewhere in the Middle East are sitting on the same kind of powder kegs called socially heated grassroots that are immersed in radical Islamism created by the United States.
