Kurginyan: Only the Bolsheviks had a dream about Man

06.11.2023, Aleksandrovskoye.

A future-oriented dream about Man was something that only Communism offered, while the West has no idea about Man, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said on October 17 in a new issue of his original broadcast Destiny.

The political scientist stressed that the West with its wonderful principles of “liberty, equality and fraternity” had no dream about Man. Spengler called the Western civilization “Faustian” because it is based on a deal with Mephistopheles, he noted.

And solely the Bolsheviks offered this dream about Man. This is what 1917 gave to the world. This is why it was accepted,” Kurginyan said.

Besides, this dream about Man was oriented to the future, not to the past. The Bolsheviks, according to the analyst, idolized the French Revolution and its ideals, but they added something original to it, “that was a new Man, the ascendance of Man, ‘everything for the sake of Man, everything for the good of Man.’”

Going beyond the ideals of Modernity, the Bolsheviks, e.g. Anatoly Lunacharsky, turned to Renaissance in the dream about a whole harmonious personality, and they went a great length in their dreams, “that was an absolute dream and something really fantastic,” Kurginyan added.

The expert noted that the West managed to stand solely due to the Bolsheviks’ utopia. The Western political liberty has no sense without a social liberty, and this is what the Bolsheviks in the USSR gave.

Kurginyan explained that Stalin’s Constitution provided social rights that were “absolutely astonishing,” and capitalism had to concede to the workers.

The Western civilization had no dreams about Man except for the Communist ones. And it only maintained because it could criticize that Communism, while Communism could tow certain part of the world, and this was the way it all evolved around an utopia about Man,” the philosopher said.

After the belief in Communism was gone and the Soviet Union collapsed it became clear that the West could not resolve the issue of Man and that everything was reduced to replacing Man with a robot or transforming Man into a consuming machine.

It became clear that the whole Western civilization was a total fiasco, ‘splendor and misery,’” the leader of the Essence of Time movement concluded.
