A truce may come soon in the Gaza Strip, Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League (LAS) Hossam Zaki said, Al-Qahera al-Ihbariya reported on October 14.
“It is possible that a humanitarian truce in Gaza may come into force soon,” Zaki said. According to him, “Egypt is currently exerting maximum efforts in this direction, to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
A day earlier, it became known that the Egyptian authorities were going to achieve a comprehensive agreement on the work of the crossing point “Rafah” on the border with the Gaza Strip. This should ensure the supply of humanitarian goods to the residents of the Palestinian enclave.
The USA and Israel demanded that Egypt open the crossing only to let foreigners out of Gaza, but Cairo does not consider this sufficient. Egypt insists on a truce and does not want Gazans pushed to its borders.
