05.09.2023, Ankara.

There are no prospects for peace in Ukraine on the horizon, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told reporters on September 5.

“Unfortunately, the war, which has been going on for 1.5 years, and it still continues. There are no prospects for peace on the horizon,” Erdogan said.

He added that Turkey has had one position on the conflict since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation. The country is in favor of its peaceful settlement.

Erdogan emphasized that he made significant efforts to prevent “further bloodshed.”

He said that Turkey is ready to become a mediator in the settlement of this conflict, as well as in the exchange of prisoners.

Russia is also in favor of a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, but Kiev has banned at the legislative level any negotiations with Russia on this issue.
