Membership in the BRICS is useful and desirable for Venezuela, said Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at a briefing with journalists on May 29, broadcasted on his Twitter page.

Venezuelan leader explained that he believes that his country as a member of the BRICS can and should participate in the creation of the new world political and economic realities.

“If you ask Venezuela if at some point it wants to join BRICS, Venezuela says yes, we would like to be part of BRICS and accompany the shaping of this new architecture and global politics,” the politician said.

Nicolas Maduro has been the head of the Bolivarian Republic for a little over ten years.

The Venezuelan President expressed this opinion after his meeting with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
