Five US missiles were shot down by Russian air defense systems in the southern Donetsk direction, Russian Defense Ministry’s representative Colonel Aleksandr Gordeyev said, RIA Novosti informed on May 17.
“Crews of S-300 and Buk anti-aircraft missile systems shot down three HARM missiles and two HIMARS missiles,” the press service chief of the Vostok military grouping said.
In addition, Russian artillery destroyed one of the pickup trucks on which the Ukrainian armed group was moving, an enemy temporary deployment point, the Nota electronic warfare station, a mortar crew and a reconnaissance group.
Air defense systems shot down Ukrainian Furia and Leleka drones.
In the Zaporozhye direction, the Akatsiya self-propelled artillery vehicle, the Gvozdika self-propelled artillery vehicle, and a mortar crew were destroyed.
On May 17, Denis Pushylin, acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, said that over the past three weeks, citizens of Donbass living on the territories occupied by Kiev regularly provided information about the locations of Ukrainian depots on the territories under Kiev’s control. As a result, Russian strikes on the locations of the Ukrainian armed units and ammunition depots have become more accurate.
