Ukraine sells its future by bargaining with the West. Opinion

“Ukraine’s ‘counteroffensive’ has long been turned into a bargaining chip in Kiev’s negotiations with its Western masters, according to a summary from the theater of war published in The Essence of Time newspaper, no. 533.

In early May, foreign media continued to discuss Ukraine’s upcoming counteroffensive. The Washington Post writes that Ukraine’s military leadership is trying to convince the West to lower expectations of a counterattack because it is unsure it can turn the tide of the conflict.

Kiev fears that if the counterattack fails, Ukraine could lose military aid supplies and that the West could begin to force Kiev to start negotiations with Moscow. The New York Times also wrote about such fears of official Kiev.

At the same time, the head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolay Patrushev said that the US was ready to continue the war with Russia to the last Ukrainian. According to him, the United States has no plans to preserve Ukraine as a state.

“The ‘counteroffensive’ of the Ukrainian armed units has long been a bargaining chip in Kiev’s negotiations with Western handlers. But much more important is what Ukraine will turn into once it is completely stripped of its statehood,” The Essence of Time‘s editorial reads.
