Serial production of the Broneboishchik high-powered air-to-surface missile has begun in Russia, Aleksandr Kochkin, Deputy General Director of the Tekhmash Concern, said on May 17 at the MILEX-2023 exhibition.

“The armor-piercing missile has been put into service and has already gone into production, there are first orders,” he said. Kochkin noted that already this year, the missile will be used in the zone of Russia’s special operation.

The missile is designed for Su-25 aircraft, Mi-8 helicopters and other aircraft with units for launching unguided aircraft missiles. It expands the family of S-8 projectiles with a caliber of 80 millimeters.

In terms of power, the rocket outperformed its predecessors five to six times. It can penetrate serious obstacles and hit the enemy in fortifications.
