Two colonels of the Russian Armed Forces – Colonel Vyacheslav Makarov, commander of the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade, and Colonel Yevgeny Brovko, Deputy Commander of the Army Corps for Military and Political Work, died heroically defending Donbass near Artemovsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry said in a Telegram channel on May 14.
The Defense Ministry report said that “Colonel Vyacheslav Makarov, commander of the 4th Motorized Rifle Brigade, personally led the battle while on the front lines. During the battle two attacks were repulsed and the brigade destroyed three tanks, four infantry fighting vehicles and two armored vehicles.
Makarov was seriously wounded during the repulsion of the third attack and died during the evacuation from the battlefield.
According to the information of the Defense Ministry, in another part of the front, Colonel Yevgeny Brovko, deputy commander of the corps in charge of political work died heroically. He was in charge of the defense of the front line and died after receiving numerous shrapnel wounds.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, over the past 24 hours to the north and south of the town of Artemovsk, the enemy made massive attempts to break through our troops’ defense. All the attacks were repelled successfully.
