Russian forces control the entire eastern part of Artemovsk [Bakhmut] in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin said, his press service wrote on the Telegram channel on March 8.

The message reads, “Wagner PMC units took the entire eastern part of Artemovsk under their control. Everything east of the Bakhmutka River is completely under the control of the Wagner PMC.”

Earlier, Yan Gagin, adviser to the acting DPR head, said that Russia controlled almost half of Artemovsk. Small groups of the Ukrainian armed units are chaotically retreating along country roads. The asphalt roads are broken and controlled by Russian artillery, and the muddy weather prevents the enemy from bringing reinforcements along the country roads.

Artemovsk is an important transport hub for supplying the Ukrainian armed units in Donbass. It is located in the norther part of the Donetsk People’s Republic which is occupied by Kiev.
