Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Russia may attack space infrastructure provided to Ukraine

16.02.2023, Moscow.

The elements of civilian space infrastructure provided to Ukraine may become a legitimate target for the Russian military, said Konstantin Vorontsov, deputy director of the Nonproliferation and Arms Control Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on February 16 at a roundtable discussion in the Russian Federation Council on the militarization of space.

“Components of civilian infrastructure in space provided to Ukraine for military purposes could become a legitimate target for a retaliatory strike,” the statement said.

Earlier on October 26, 2022, Vorontsov also said that US space satellites providing military assistance to Ukraine could be a legitimate target for a retaliatory strike by the Russian Armed Forces.
