The Russian armed forces broke through the echeloned defense system of the Ukrainian armed units on the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry wrote on its Telegram channel on February 15.
“Servicemen of motorized infantry regiments of the Central Military District broke through the enemy’s echeloned defense system in the forested area in the LPR. During the offensive by the servicemen of the Central Military District, the Ukrainian troops indiscriminately retreated up to three kilometers from the previously occupied positions,” the ministry wrote.
At the same time, the Russian Defence Ministry noted that the Russian military also broke through the second, more fortified line of the Ukrainian armed units’ defense.
It is noted that “the Ukrainian fighters left their positions in a hurry, without having time to take away military equipment and the bodies of their dead.”
During the retreat, the ministry said, the Ukrainian armed units remotely mined the area with NATO anti-personnel mines. However, this did not stop the Russian military, “the servicemen of motorized infantry regiments successfully consolidated their positions and continued their offensive actions.”
