In regards to Russia, victory is the only acceptable outcome in the conflict with Ukraine. This will require a large scale transformation, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on October 30 during the Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel.
“We just don’t have any other way out, we can only win if we change. Everything else will lead straight to annihilation of the state and the genocide of the Russian people,” said Kurginyan. According to him, Russia found itself in a very difficult situation when it simply must win, and it will be impossible if Russia does not transform itself.
Victory in the Ukrainian conflict cannot be achieved without abandoning the course towards emulating the West, which has lasted for the past thirty years, noted the political scientist. Everyone in Russia had already understood that there was no other way out but to overcome in the special operation in Ukraine, added the expert.
“We have completely opened up to Western culture and subculture, it filled the society with certain types of vibes, and then what?” the expert is asking. According to him, it is necessary to create an alternative cultural flow for Russia, and this is not so simple, not at all.
For a long time, Russian political elites firmly believed that it was feasible to combine a liberal market economy with a strong government, noted the political scientist.
“This was the essence of “Putin’s” consensus: liberals are here, they are in charge of our economy and everything has to do with that; and conservatives are there, they keep talking about a strong state,” explained the expert. According to him, now, the situation has very much changed, and people who are accustomed to the old reality continue to move on due to inertia.
Kurginyan compared the government with a huge ship, when the inertia does not allow a sharp turn around and a change of course even if reefs appear on the horizon.
The Russian authorities and civil society will have to figure out how to stop the pro-Western course and which direction to move – in culture, the economy, in regards to the army and other areas of life, concluded the expert.
