Lukashenko: In Ukraine, Russia can manage without the use of nuclear weapons

Russia has the most advanced types of weapons and can manage in Ukraine without the use of nuclear arms, said President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on October 14 in an interview to NBC.

He stressed that Russia has never had an objective of using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. “Never, never has President Putin or the Russian leadership set a goal to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine,” Lukashenko said.

He added that the recent example of a wave of missile strikes in Ukraine with precision-guided weapons in a response to a terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge showed that the response “was powerful, but it’s not everything.”

“Russia, and I know this for sure, possesses the most modern weapons. And you don’t need nuclear weapons. Russia will cope without them,” he said, answering a question about nuclear weapons use in an interview with NBC.

At the beginning of his response, Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the most important thing is not to “back a person or a country into the corner,” not to cross “red lines”. He also drew attention to the fact that any weapon is built in order to be used, and Russia clearly outlined its position that when its territory is attacked, it can use all types of weapons.
