In Ukraine, the US is implementing one of the pillars of its strategy – an intermediate scale war in a gray zone, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on September 17 during the broadcast of the Right to Know! program on the TVC channel.
For some reason, Russian political analysts do not discuss this strategy, while for the US, the concept of an intermediate scale war in a gray zone is absolutely central, noted Kurginyan.
According to him, it is a very important concept, since it is very difficult to test in real life situation whether a country is capable of anything militarily or just “pretends”, in the world with nuclear weapons. In order to find out, a conventional war must be waged in a gray zone. The political scientist stressed that he warned the US’ experts who advocate such wars that a medium scale conflict in a gray zone is dangerous, and that the gray zone can quickly shift. At the same time, there is a danger of taking it too far when testing the potentials of the warring parties, .
“In this sense, Ukraine is a gray zone — it is not a formal NATO member state,” explained Kurginyan.
“In Europe, there were no conflicts of such scale since WWII. The US sees the Russian special operation in Ukraine as its own existential threat. Everyone should know that, they stressed that they could afford to lose in Vietnam, but they cannot afford to lose in Ukraine,” emphasized the political scientist.
According to Kurginyan, this point of view dominates in the US because of Zbigniew Brzeziński and his school of thought that Russia may exist as an empire only together with Ukraine. Another reason is the US itself. It is weakening. So, it has to punish those who question its hegemony. In addition, the US elites, especially its Republican part, hate Europe and will do everything to prevent the integration of Russian resources with the German technological base, explained Kurginyan.
