Kherson residents have the right to hold a referendum on joining Russia at any time, because they are ready to defend their choice with weapons in hand,the deputy head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma and head of the party’s humanitarian mission in the Kherson region Igor Kastukevich said, the party’s press service informed on September 20.
“And after the latest shelling by the Ukrainian army, the people of Kherson are even ready to defend their right to be part of Russia with weapons in hand,” the politician stressed.
He noted that Kherson residents did not think that the Ukrainian Nazis would hit their city as they did Donetsk. “When it [the shelling] happened, the people of Kherson clearly saw who was their friend and who was something quite different,” Kastyukevich said.
