Another attack of the Ukrainian armed units caused the accident at the Zaporozhye NPP, the head of the Zaporozhye region administration Yevgeniy Balitsky wrote on August 25 on his Telegram channel.
“Today, as a result of a strike by Ukrainian armed units on power lines in the area of Zaporozhye NPP caused a fire in the territory of the security zone of the VL-750 kV. The fire triggered a short circuit in the power lines. ZNPP emergency relay protection went off, two power units were disconnected, after which Zaporozhye region was left without power supply,” Balitsky wrote.
The head of the administration noted that immediately after the elimination of the fire one of the power units was put into operation.
At the same time, work was carried out to restore power supply to the region and start the second power unit.
The report also notes that at the moment the power supply of all cities and districts of Zaporozhye region has been restored.
