Ukraine’s armed units lost three tanks and about 70 servicemen while attempting to breakthrough near Avdeevka. The deputy head of the DPR People’s Militia Eduard Basurin said this on June 2 on the air of the Russia One TV channel.

“There were two such cases in the area of Avdeevka. <…> The enemy suffered significant losses for the first time. Three tanks were destroyed, two were hit. <…> Up to 70 soldiers were killed,” Basurin said.

An attempted breakthrough near Novomikhaylovka cost the lives of 15 Ukrainian fighters, the spokesman said.

All in all, over the past week, the DPR People’s Militia foiled three attempts by the Ukrainian army to break through near Avdeevka and Novomikhaylovka and repulsed an attempted counterattack by the Ukrainian army in the southwest of Donetsk.

During the special operation, the Russian army engaged in the main battles with militants of Ukrainian nationalist battalions. They use the population of Donbass as human shields and organize firing positions in residential areas.
