Militants of Aydar (organization banned in the Russian Federation) mined the Lugansk thermal power plant. They threatened to blow it up in case the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic advances in this direction.
In early March, after heavy fighting, LPR forces liberated Schastye. The militants hastily retreated and did not have time to blow up the Lugansk thermal power plant.
On the territory of the power plant, the armed units of Ukraine have arranged fortifications.
After the liberation of the thermal power plant, the LPR People’s Militia forces, together with the Russian armed forces, continue demining the plant’s territory.
The brand-new weapons of the Russian Federation, in particular, the robotic demining complex Uran-6 is used for the destruction of ammunition. This complex was successfully used in Syria for demining Palmyra.
Employees of the power plant are now restoring the plant’s capacity to work. With its launch, the Alchevsk and Stakhanov Metallurgical Plants will be able to operate at full capacity.
Construction of the Lugansk thermal power plant began in 1952. The station was named after Voroshilovgradskaya TPP. The capacity of the thermal power plant is 1,360 MW.
