The head of the Russian Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin ordered to start the investigation into the criminal case of torture and murder of a woman in Mariupol by Ukrainian neo-Nazis, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee informed on March 28.

According to the official statement, the Investigative Committee has information that Ukrainian nationalists from the Azov battalion (organization banned in the Russian Federation) tortured the girl, a resident of Mariupol, for a long time and eventually killed her. Her body with signs of torture and a swastika carved on her stomach was found in the basement of a school in the city, where there was a Nazi base.

“As part of the investigation, the circumstances of what happened and the Ukrainian nationalists involved in committing this violent crime will be established,” the press service stated.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had decided to conduct a special military operation to protect Donbass from Ukrainian neo-Nazis in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR. The goal of the operation is to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that the military occupation of Ukraine is ruled out. The Russian Defense Ministry also informed that Russian troops do not strike peaceful cities.
