Crossed the Rubicon? What Putin has said at the meeting

On March 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin made key statements at a meeting with members of the government and heads of regions. The leader of the state spoke about the foreign policy situation in which Russia finds itself. Rossa Primavera News Agency prepared a summary of the President’s main theses.

The United States was preparing Ukraine for bloodshed in Donbass

Russia was left with no choice but to launch a special military operation in Ukraine. The intention to create its own nuclear weapons posed a real threat to Russia, as did the development of biological weapons components in Ukraine, Putin said.

“There was also a network of dozens of laboratories operating in Ukraine, where military biological programs, including experiments with samples of coronavirus, anthrax, cholera, African swine fever, and other deadly diseases were conducted under the guidance and financial support of the Pentagon,” the president stressed.

Both Ukraine and the USA and NATO alliance were dismissive of the Kremlin’s remarks about threats to Russian security. All diplomatic channels have been exhausted, Putin stressed. He explained that Western countries provoked Ukraine into a military conflict.

“Ukraine <…> was purposefully preparing for a violent scenario, bloodshed, and ethnic cleansing in Donbass. A massive offensive on the Donbass and then on Crimea was only a matter of time,” the Russian president noted.

The Kiev regime had persecuted the people of Donbass for eight years, and Russia recognized the People’s Republics in order to end Kiev’s genocide, the leader of the state stressed.

“Russia recognized the Reople’s Republics of Donbass, concluded treaties of friendship and mutual assistance with them. On the basis of these agreements, the republics turned to our country for military assistance in repelling aggression. And we provided this assistance – we simply could not, had no right to do otherwise,” Putin noted.

According to the President of Russia, the country could have been confronted with the fact of the strengthening of NATO offensive weapons right near the borders with Russia. After the start of a special military operation, it was no longer enough just to liberate the territories of the former Donetsk and Lugansk regions of Ukraine. The root of the threat would have remained in Ukraine, and shelling and provocations would also have continued along the new front line, Putin explained.

“It is the issues that are fundamental for Russia, for our future – on the neutral status of Ukraine, on demilitarization and denazification – that we were ready and willing to discuss now during the negotiations,” the president noted.

Economic measures of the West hit the West itself

The USA and its allies imposed economic, trade and financial sanctions against Russia, but received a blow targeting their own citizens. Europeans and Americans have faced rising gasoline prices, food prices and job losses.

“The current problems faced by millions of people in the West were the result of years of action by their states’ ruling elites, their mistakes, short-sightedness and ambition,” Putin explained. He added that Western elites are obsessed with self-interest and super-profits.

Another effect of the anti-Russian sanctions has been to undermine confidence in the US dollar and hit the global economy. The US and the EU illegitimately decided to freeze portions of the Russian Central Bank’s foreign currency reserves, and this means defaulting on obligations to Russia.

“Now everyone knows that financial reserves can simply be stolen,” the president stressed. He added that many countries around the world will now begin to convert paper and digital savings into gold and other tangible assets.

In Europe and North America, they have started to persecute natives of Russia as the German Nazis did in the 1930s. Children face aggression in schools, hospitals refuse aid, and somewhere they try to ban works of Russian literature.

“A massive attack has also been launched against Russia in cyberspace. An unprecedented information campaign has been unleashed, involving global social networks and all Western media,” added the president. According to him, it came down to the permission to publish calls for the murder of Russian citizens in popular social networks of the West.

“The Fifth Column” in Russia

Vladimir Putin touched on the issue of the country’s wealthiest part of the population – those who have villas abroad and cannot do without foie gras. Many of these people already consider themselves mentally part of the superior race, not tying their fate to Russia and the Russian people. But the elites of the West themselves look upon natives of Russia as expendable material, the president stressed.

“The collective West is trying to split our society by speculating on war losses, on the social and economic consequences of sanctions, to provoke civil confrontation in Russia,” Putin said. He added that the goal of the West is the destruction of Russia, and for this purpose the West uses the “fifth column.”

The Russian people will distinguish the patriots from the scum and traitors. Such self-cleansing of society will strengthen Russia, allowing it to respond to any challenge with solidarity, the president stressed. According to him, the USA and the European Union expect to break it the way they have broken many countries in the world, where they have reconciled themselves to living with their backs bent.

“But Russia will never be in such a miserable and humiliating state, and the fight we are waging is a fight for our sovereignty,” Putin concluded.
